Not because people are careless. Getting money back takes a free afternoon, a reference number you can't find, and the patience to be transferred four times. Lumo exists to do that part for you.
Every money app in the UK does the same thing: it finds the problem and hands it back to you. Here's the subscription you forgot. Here's the bill that went up. Here's what you could save. Good luck.
That's the easy half. The hard half is the hour on the phone, the form that times out, the retention agent whose job is to talk you out of it. Detection is free advice. What people actually want is for it to be handled.
So we built the other half. Lumo is an agent. You approve, it goes off and does the work, the email, the reply, the follow-up, the counter-offer, and comes back with the outcome and the proof.
Lumo reads your transactions, read-only and through regulated open banking, for duplicate charges, prices that crept up and subscriptions gathering dust. Or you just tell it, or upload the bill.
With your approval, it writes and sends the claim from your address, reads what comes back, answers the questions and pushes when it needs to, across refunds, negotiations and cancellations.
A task isn't done because the agent thinks so. It's done when there's a confirmation in writing, and that evidence is what you see and the only thing a fee is ever based on.
We only take a cut of what we actually get back. If nothing comes back, you pay nothing.
No subscription, no monthly fee, no charge for looking. It's the only pricing model we could find where our incentive and yours point the same way: we don't get paid for effort, activity or good intentions, only for money that has genuinely landed back with you.
On a negotiated bill or a cancellation, the fee is 25% of a single month. Every month of saving after that is entirely yours. Competitors take between a third and half of everything. We think that's the wrong number.
An agent that acts in your name only works if you can trust it completely. These are the lines we don't cross.
Where a smarter, more autonomous approach would make Lumo harder to predict, we take the predictable one. You should always be able to say what Lumo will do next.
Lumo asks before it acts, stops when it hits something it isn't authorised to decide, and never quietly presses on. Approval is a decision, not a checkbox you clicked once.
Lumo represents you in correspondence and keeps it professional. We ask firmly, we cite the terms, we don't name and shame anyone.
Plenty of claims don't succeed. When one doesn't, you're told what happened in plain words, and you're not charged for the attempt.
Lumo can see your transactions. It cannot move your money. Not now, not by accident, and not because a web page told it to.
Refunds, bills and cancellations are the start, because they're the tasks that are painful, repetitive and clearly worth money. The engine underneath them isn't specific to any of the three.
The same loop, which is to find the goal, pick the channel, act, read the response, adapt and come back to you when it matters, extends to switching providers, and beyond that to most of the admin that stands between people and money they're entitled to.
The ambition is simple: financial work that used to require an advocate, an afternoon or an argument should just happen, for everyone, quietly, in the background.
Questions, press, partnerships, or something Lumo got wrong. We read everything.
